Park Plaza Gardens New Alcove Featuring VIP Dining, Red Carpet Service

In its continuing pursuit to offer Winter Park patrons the ultimate dining experience, the Alcove at Park Plaza Gardens recently underwent a spectacular renovation.  The new space was unveiled to the public during “Lunch with Buddy” a November 1, 2011 event honoring Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

During the two week renovation, the Alcove was expanded by 43 square feet; smart-room technology was integrated into the space, and the décor was elegantly updated making the Alcove at Park Plaza Garden the perfect space to host a corporate meeting or VIP Themed Dining event for up to ten guests.

VIP Themed Dining in the newly renovated Alcove includes a private, Red Carpet entrance; lavish tablescapes; 5-course dinner service;  themed cocktails; white dinner jacket service; and top tier wine pairings.

Three custom-themed menus are available: Southern Decadence, East Meets West, and 1940’s Supper Club. Each custom-themed menu is meticulously prepared by Master Chef Tan and offers diners a unique and luxurious dining experience.

The Southern Decadence menu is imbued with classic offerings that echo the essence of Southern hospitality and sophistication.

Demonstrating Chef Tan’s mastery of combining unique Asian flavors with American cuisine, the East Meets West menu transports guests on a Zen-style culinary journey.

For those seeking a European-inspired fine dining, the fare offered on the 1940’s Supper Club menu will certainly satisfy even the most discerning palette.

Park Plaza Gardens will host the Winter Park area’s first Red Carpet Monday on November 21, 2011. Red Carpet Monday is a Sophisticated, Invitation-Only business network created for successful business owners, professionals, senior level executives and entrepreneurs around the United States. Ideal Steak Cooking

To achieve a moist, tender, savory steak, remove from the fire midway through the cooking time.   Allow to rest for 10 minutes, then return to the heat.  Bring the steak just below the desired temperature and return to the resting area for another 3 to 5 minutes before serving.

Port: The Perfect Finish to a Great Meal

Daniels Wine Corner- Port:
The Perfect Finish to a Great Meal

My favorite type of ports are well aged tawnies showing aromas of baking spice, almonds, maple syrup  and caramel making them a great pairing with cookies, biscotti, nut flavored desserts, vanilla ice cream, full flavored cheese like gorgonzola and blue cheese, or just by itself.  The sweetness of port can also make it a great lower calorie alternative for dessert.

Sandeman’s makes a great 20 year old tawny that can be found at most restaurants including PPG.  A tawny port is a fortified wine, from Portugal’s Douro Valley, that is aged the number of years listed on the bottle in oak casks allowing astringent tannins to turn into sediment which is left behind before bottling leaving a very smooth, approachable wine.  Enjoy!

Macy’s Drop Biscuits

Yields 32 one ounce portions

Macy's Drop Biscuits2 ½ cup All Purpose Flour
2 1/8 teaspoon Baking Powder
½ teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Brown Sugar
2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Blackening Season

Combine all ingredients mix well
3 ounces Soften Butter (room temperature)
2 tablespoons Margarine (soften)
1 cup Buttermilk
2 punces Heavy Cream
¾ cup Blue Cheese Crumbles
½ cup Small Diced White Onion
¼ cup Small Diced Bell Pepper
1 Whole Jalapeno deseeded Dice Small
1 teaspoon Chopped Garlic

Soften butter and margarine together with onion, pepper, jalapeno, and garlic once brought to room temperature add in buttermilk and cream mix well and pour into flour mix. Stir until all ingredients are almost combined pulling away from bowl forming a ball. Add blue cheese and mix in by hand till combined. Make one ounce portions on greased sheet pan. Bake at  350F convection for 14 minutes.
