Check-in will be held at the corner of Morse Blvd. & Park Ave. on January 12, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Attendees will receive their commemorative wine glass and lanyard at check-in.

In its continuing pursuit to offer Winter Park patrons the ultimate dining experience, the Alcove at Park Plaza Gardens recently underwent a spectacular renovation.  The new space was unveiled to the public during “Lunch with Buddy” a November 1, 2011 event honoring Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

During the two week renovation, the Alcove was expanded by 43 square feet; smart-room technology was integrated into the space, and the décor was elegantly updated making the Alcove at Park Plaza Garden the perfect space to host a corporate meeting or VIP Themed Dining event for up to ten guests.

VIP Themed Dining in the newly renovated Alcove includes a private, Red Carpet entrance; lavish tablescapes; 5-course dinner service;  themed cocktails; white dinner jacket service; and top tier wine pairings.

Three custom-themed menus are available: Southern Decadence, East Meets West, and 1940’s Supper Club. Each custom-themed menu is meticulously prepared by Master Chef Tan and offers diners a unique and luxurious dining experience.

The Southern Decadence menu is imbued with classic offerings that echo the essence of Southern hospitality and sophistication.

Demonstrating Chef Tan’s mastery of combining unique Asian flavors with American cuisine, the East Meets West menu transports guests on a Zen-style culinary journey.

For those seeking a European-inspired fine dining, the fare offered on the 1940’s Supper Club menu will certainly satisfy even the most discerning palette.

“This past New Years Eve my husband and I enjoyed a low key evening in Winter Park. We started with drinks at The Wine Room and then had a fabulous three course meal at Park Plaza Gardens. Everything about the dinner was outstanding. The food quality and presentation was amazing, the servers were attentive and the atmosphere was sophisticated yet festive. I wanted to write about our great experience back then, but I felt that I also needed to sample the restaurant’s everyday dining experience first. Of course, with our crazy schedules and everyday life I just recently made it back.

On my second visit, I went for lunch with my husband and parents. We sat in the bar rather than in their full dinning area, which is where we ate for New Years Eve. Each space is different but I like them both. The dining area is a beautiful space with a courtyard feel. There’s lots of greenery, glowing lights and brick walls. The City of Winter Park will present their annual Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration! Wear your red, white and blue, pack a picnic lunch, bring a blanket or beach chair, and gather with family and friends to enjoy this Winter Park tradition.

The annual celebration will feature live patriotic music performed by the Bach Festival Brass Band and the Bach Festival Choir, horse-drawn wagon rides, the Orlando Cloggers, the Rockin’ Roadster Road Show and much more! Children’s activities will include the annual bicycle parade at 9 a.m. from City Hall to Central Park, and fun games and inflatables. Families and friends are also invited to stroll along Park Avenue and Hannibal Square to find bargains at the sidewalk sales and dine at the wide selection of eateries.

In addition, the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art will present their Independence Day Open House. The museum, which is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of work by American artist Louis Comfort Tiffany, will provide FREE admission to its galleries from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Winter Park Historical Museum will also be open FREE to everyone in celebration of the recent nomination of the Downtown Historic District to the National Register of Historic Places.
